Warminster Township lies along Street Road, and forms part of the western border of Bucks County, between Upper Southampton Township and Warrington Township. In 1683, William Penn bought from the Lenni Lenape Indians the land that now includes Warminster Township. The growing agricultural community of Dutch and English settlers established the Township in 1711. Ivyland Borough, part of Warminster Township until its incorporation in 1905, was a large part of the Township's early history.
With its land area nearly completely developed, Warminster is largely a family-oriented, residential community with a population of over 32,000. The Township provides year-round activities for all ages including arts, athletics, games, trips and cultural activities, many of which are held at the Recreation and Education Center on Little Lane. The Township also maintains ten community parks, with 150 acres of recreation area, and Five Ponds Golf Club.
The Benjamin Wilson Senior Center, 580 Delmont Avenue, provides a variety of recreational programs for anyone 55 years and older in the Warminster, Warwick, Warrington and Ivyland areas. New members are invited to attend an orientation program held Fridays at 10 a.m. Call 215-672-8380 to register.
