Langhorne Borough lies within Middletown Township in Lower Bucks County, at the crossroads of Maple Avenue (Route 213) and Route 413. In colonial times, this intersection of the road from Bristol to Durham with the road between Philadelphia and Trenton made the village a popular stopping place. This 18th-century village has several fine examples of the Georgian-Craftsman style of architecture. The Langhorne Hotel, built in 1704, was a favorite tavern for George Washington's troops, and remains in operation today.

The Hicks House, built in 1763, was the birthplace of Edward Hicks, the American folk artist and Quaker leader best known for his more than 60 "Peaceable Kingdom" paintings that illustrate the vision of the biblical prophet Isaiah. The Historic Langhorne Association, housed in the original Langhorne Library (constructed in 1888), is open to the public as a museum, research library, and gift shop. Langhorne is also known around Lower Bucks County for its annual Memorial Day parade.
